December 11, 2020

KELOWNA TD Benefits is extremely proud to be affiliated with, and also the main sponsor for, Mel Gosse-Sinclair and her 100 KM run for Canadian Mental Health. Throughout 2020, we have seen many individuals and businesses that have met the call of their community in a variety of ways to provide support and have gone above and beyond. TD benefits would like to recognize Mel and Canadian Mental Health for doing just that.

During 2020 and this pandemic we have seen an increased need for individuals to have the ability to reach out to professionals to assist them with mental health related issues, including family challenges, personal problems, work-related difficulties, and addiction and dependency concerns. TD Benefits recognizes how important it is that your Group Benefit Plan include EAP, an Employee Assistance Program that provides direct access to thousands of professionally trained counsellors who provide services, either face-to-face, or from the comfort of your own home.

TD Benefits is matching Mel Gosse-Sinclair’s fund-raising efforts in the amount of $5,000, which were raised through her 100 KM run on November 28th, 2020. Together, we wish to bring awareness to the importance of mental health and the variety of avenues available to those who require help when they need it the most.

Mel Gosse-Sinclair started this fundraising run after having a tough year. A traumatic car accident and losing a friend to suicide were just a few events that had happened. Through these she started realizing how little people were talking about mental health as when she opened up to her friends and family about what she was going through, she only realized then how many people have been or are currently struggling with their own mental health issues.

She ended up using an EAP Program herself earlier in the year after the car accident and learned how helpful this was on her road to healing. Mel first started with a goal of $1,500 but quickly realized how supportive her network and community were and began to increase the goal from there to help more people with the raised funds (going to the Canadian Mental Health Association). Mel is pleased to be in a sponsorship partnership with TD Benefits as she used the EAP Program herself after her car accident and realized just how amazing a service like that is to help others struggling.
