PENTICTONExpander Energy Inc. has formed a partnership with IMG Industries to create a clean technology company called Expander Technologies Inc., which will manufacture their patented bio-mass gasifier used in the production of renewable, low-carbon fuels.

The gasifiers will produce clean, tar-free synthesis gas – known as “syn-gas” – from cellulosic feedstocks such as forestry waste, agricultural waste, urban wood-waste, and municipal solid waste, through a process they call Enhanced Biomass to Liquids (EBTL™). The gasifier technology has already been producing green power in Europe from woody biomass feedstock, demonstrating exceptional operating efficiencies.

Expander Energy Inc. is based in Calgary, has an office in Penticton and is dubbed an “Eligible Corporation” under the BC Venture Capital Tax Credit Program, which qualifies investors for a 30 per cent provincial tax credit. Expander Technologies has also entered into a share sale agreement with ABCT Pacific, also a provincially certified Venture Capital Corporation in BC.

“The establishment of Expander Technologies Inc. marks a significant milestone in Expander Energy’s commercialization process,” says Expander Executive Chairman and CFO James Ross. “By partnering with IMG Industries and manufacturing our patented gasifier design in British Columbia, we are well-positioned to meet the market demand for low carbon intensity and renewable fuels.”

The initial project for Expander Technologies will involve constructing a gasifier for Expander Energy’s recently announced Bio-SynDiesel Project in Carseland, Alberta. This project will produce 8 million liters/year of renewable Bio-Synthetic Diesel fuel, which significantly exceeds Canada’s Clean Fuel Standard requirement for diesel fuel by 2030. Production is expected to begin in mid-2025.
