PENTICTON – The Penticton & Wine Country Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to announce the annual State of the City Address with Mayor Julius Bloomfield, presented by Cascades Casino Penticton. This hallmark event will be held at Okanagan College’s Community Hall on Friday, January 19th, 2024, from 7:30am to 9:30am.

“It’s really great to begin 2024 by speaking to business leaders and residents about the work we’ve done over the past year, and more importantly, what we can expect to see over the next 12 months to support Council’s priorities,” states Mayor Bloomfield. “The addition of a new Director of Public Safety and the recommendations that Council received from the OCP’s Housing Task Force are a couple of things that will have a big impact this year.”

“Cascades Casino is really excited to be a part of this,” remarks Shane Squires, General Manager. “Local government plays a big role in Penticton and being able to start the year hearing from our mayor gives us all a much clearer picture of where we’re headed, and what we can all do to make Penticton more vibrant and successful.”

The State of the City is once again being held at the college’s spacious and LEED Platinum Certified Community Hall inside the Jim Pattison Centre of Excellence building.

“Okanagan College is pleased to once again host this event on campus and to welcome the mayor and local citizens,” says Dr. Neil Fassina, president of Okanagan College. “Every day, hundreds of Penticton students are pursuing education and skills training that will allow them to advance in their careers. OC works closely with communities across our region to support all learners in identifying and achieving their educational goals, and putting their learning into practice at work, and as volunteers and leaders locally and beyond.”

Admission is free, with doors opening at 7:30am. A delicious buffet breakfast provided by Marmalade Cat Café will be available for $30 ($25 for Chamber members) and served at 7:45am. Space is limited so registration is required. Please visit https://bit.ly/chamberstateofthecity to secure your seat.

The Mayor’s State of the City address will begin at 8am, followed by a fireside chat. Audience members will be able to submit questions to the Mayor when they register, or electronically during the event. Live polls will also be used during the State of the City to provide an interactive discussion on topics that are important to Penticton and the future of our City.
