BRITISH COLUMBIA – OpenRoad Auto Group has once again earned national recognition by being named one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies for 2025. This marks the 13th year in a row that the company has received the designation and the seventh consecutive year it has retained Platinum Club status—an honour reserved for businesses recognized as Best Managed for at least seven years.
Now in its 30th year, the Canada’s Best Managed Companies program recognizes privately-owned Canadian companies with revenues of $50 million or more. The selection process is highly competitive, assessing applicants on strategic leadership, innovation, governance, culture, capabilities, and financial performance.
“Earning this recognition for 13 years running is a true testament to the dedication, innovation, and tenacity of our entire team,” Christian Chia, CEO of OpenRoad Auto, stated on their blog post. “As we look to the future, we remain focused on responsible growth, furthering our ESG commitments, and continually evolving to meet the needs of our customers and communities. This honour reinforces our mission to lead with purpose and help shape a more sustainable and forward-thinking automotive industry.”
OpenRoad, which celebrates its 25th year in business in 2025, operates in 40 locations across British Columbia, Ontario, and Washington State and is the largest dealership group in B.C. The company manages 33 automotive retail stores and seven collision repair centres. It represents 20 automotive brands, including Acura, Audi, BMW, Porsche, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lexus, Volkswagen, Hyundai, Mazda, Honda, Subaru, Toyota, Genesis, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, McLaren, Lamborghini, Bentley, and Rolls-Royce, and employs more than 2,100 people.
In 2024, OpenRoad achieved several key milestones. It launched B.C.’s only two Porsche NOW pop-up retail locations in Langley and Richmond, and expanded its Ontario operations by adding ToyotaTown London, Lexus of London, and White Oaks Collision Centre to its group. Further investments included the renovation and expansion of its Toyota dealership in White Rock and the announcement of OpenShine, a new initiative introducing Tommy’s Express Car Wash to Canada.
As part of its commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices, OpenRoad also established a rooftop beehive at BMW Langley. Its charitable arm, the OpenRoad Foundation, contributed over $466,000 to 23 charitable partners, supporting initiatives in Environment, Community, and Education.
“Best Managed is a prestigious award that recognizes the significant and ongoing contributions within Canada’s business landscape,” Lorrie King, Partner at Deloitte Private, Global Best Managed Leader and Co-Leader of the Canada’s Best Managed Companies program, noted in the blog. “Companies such as OpenRoad Auto who attain this high standard of excellence demonstrate consistent adaptability, versatility, and strategic acuity. Year after year, they thrive in a competitive, rapidly changing market and should be proud of their growth.”
The 2025 group of Best Managed companies reflect strong commonalities such as people-first cultures, strategic planning, commitment to innovation, and solid corporate governance. These businesses are recognized for their ability to adapt and succeed in complex, evolving markets.
Administered by Deloitte Private and its program partners, Canada’s Best Managed Companies is one of the nation’s most prominent business awards. Each year, hundreds of applicants undergo an independent and rigorous evaluation by a panel of judges drawn from business leaders and program sponsors.
