Real estate sales in British Columbia will be subject to a new tax, as announced in the provincial budget for 2024, which will take effect on January 1, 2025, and will affect income from the sale of relevant property that has been owned for less than two years. This tax is going to be applied to purchases made before it was even implemented. So, people who buy land before January 1, 2025, will have to pay it.

Official approval has been granted for the 52-room expansion of the 35-suite Coast Hotel, now called Hotel Penticton, on Westminster Avenue.

The Penticton council has approved the next steps in developing a mixed-use mega-complex at 1704 Government Street, which will include apartments and businesses.

The 17-unit rental building at 952 Dynes Ave. sold for $2.67 million at closing on February 1st, matching its assessed value. The buyer’s representatives were Dan Chatfield and Trevor Buchan of Colliers, while the seller’s representatives were Marcus & Millichap.

Cannabis-friendly spaces and public patio consumption have been made legal in BC, which means licensees are now authorized to promote a location where cannabis can be consumed or where individuals can socialize after using cannabis.

A meet-and-greet with the Penticton city council will take place at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre on March 20.
