The obesity epidemic continues to grow in North America. Despite the increase in wearable technology, fitness gadgets, personal trainers, the next exercise fad or diet of the day, North Americans are not getting any healthier according to Statistics Canada.
According to the Canadian Community Health Survey, an estimated 61.8 per cent of men (8.2 million) and 46.2 per cent of women (6.1 million) have increased health risks due to excess weight. Several factors can contribute to this worldwide trend such as our fast-paced/overcommitted lives, technology that reduces physical demands, convenience foods, and stress.
