KAMLOOPS CHAMBER WELCOMES NEW PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Sara Lawson is the newly elected Board President of the Kamloops Chamber 

KAMLOOPS – The Kamloops & District Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the election of its 2025–2026 Board of Directors and the appointment of its new Board President, Sara Lawson of Schoening Funeral Service. The announcement was made at the Chamber’s 129th Annual General Meeting, held last week at Thompson Rivers University.

In addition to reviewing the Chamber’s 2024 year-end financials, members in attendance bid farewell to outgoing Directors and welcomed a new leadership team focused on advancing the interests of Kamloops’ business community.

Sara Lawson, who has served on the Chamber Board since 2020, steps into the role of President for a one-year term. She brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to community service.

Sara is a funeral director and the General Manager of the Kamloops area of funeral homes with Dignity Memorial, including Schoening Funeral Service, First Memorial, Merritt Funeral Chapel and Pine Grove Crematorium. Sara has been in the funeral profession for over 25 years.

Passionate about community, Sara has a long history of involvement as a hospice bereavement companion, is a member of the Rotary Club of Kamloops Daybreak and has enjoyed her time serving on many community boards, including, most recently 5 years with the North Shore BIA where she served as President.

Sara is passionate about supporting the growth and development of business in Kamloops. She has been involved with the Chamber of Commerce at a board level for over 10 years. She is excited for the opportunity to move into the role of President for the Kamloops and District Chamber of Commerce.

Sara is happy to call Kamloops home with her husband Tom, two teenaged sons and her ridiculous pug, Nacho.

I will carry on the tradition of strong leadership from Past-President Cindy Piva, along with our newly elected and returning board members.” said Sara Lawson, newly elected Board President of the Kamloops & District Chamber of Commerce. “I am confident our chamber will continue to be a leader among our peers in the city, around the province and across the country. During uncertain times, such as these, we are here for the business community. Our members are able to use our collective voice to face the challenges of our current environment together and to move business forward in Kamloops and across the region. I am excited to be a part of that and to represent our over 720 members!”
