Kamloops Business Development Summit Coming December 1st

November 16, 2016

KAMLOOPS – Five local business support and development organizations have joined together to present Link Up, the inaugural Kamloops Business Development Summit geared to bringing and incredible collection of business resources and organizations together for one day, under one room, to benefit Kamloops businesses.

“We’ve very excited about the partnership between Venture Kamloops, The Kamloops Chamber of Commerce, BDC, Community Futures, and Kamloops Innovation,” says Colin O’Leary, Manager Business Retention & Expansion for Venture Kamloops.

“This will be one of the largest business to government and business to support-focused community organization events in the region. The Summit offers a unique opportunity for businesses interested in taking advantage of programs and incentives from local, provincial, and federal government agencies and business organizations to learn about a variety of opportunities.”

The full day event, hosted on Thursday, December 1 at the Coast Conference Centre will include seminars, a key note speaker, tradeshow, and opportunities for businesses to connect.

“Our seminars will be set up as panel discussions so businesses can sit in on the Provincial Support seminar, for example, which will feature the likes of the Ministry of International Trade, Ministry of Jobs, Tourism, Innovation and Skills Training, Small Business BC, Export Development Canada, and Canadian Manufactures and Exporters,” says O’Leary.

“Each organization has 10 – 15 minutes to share what new programs or incentives are available which might help business, plus they’ll answer questions from the floor. Bringing this all together in one day will make it more effective for business people.”

During the working luncheon, attendees will be hearing form Robin Warton. Robin works for Barber Lucia Solutions providing senior level expertise in the area of Aboriginal relations, strategic partnerships, business development and government relations. He will be speaking on relationship building, negotiation skills, how to be a better strategist and use creativity to develop innovative and effective solutions.

“It’s a great day of learning, making new connections, and linking up your business to people and programs to help you in the specific areas of business development you’re looking for,” says O’Leary.

“We’re looking forward to a great turn out for the summit. Tickets are $50, including taxes and service fees, and include the full day of seminars, tradeshow, and keynote speaker, plus a light breakfast, lunch, and snacks.
