With construction scheduled to start in August 2024, planning and site preparation are already underway for Surrey Memorial Hospital’s new stand-alone renal hemodialysis facility, which is planned to open in 2025 on the hospital’s northwest campus. The project is estimated to cost $85 million, with the Province contributing $84 million and the Surrey Hospitals Foundation contributing $1 million.

This year marks the complete rebranding of the Britco brand as BOXX Modular.

BC Hydro has announced that $725 million in capital construction will be conducted in Langley over the next ten years to upgrade and expand the electricity infrastructure. This expansion will provide electricity to as many as 140,000 homes.
A 50th anniversary exterior retrofit was conducted at Langley Lodge, a long-term care facility located on 204th Street.
The Childcare BC New Spaces Fund provided funds to Langley City for the Cookie Monster Preschool, located in the building at 20550 Douglas Cres., to establish 72 new child care spaces.
Between June 18 and 30, Surrey-Langley SkyTrain is seeking feedback on the design of the eight new SkyTrain stations, including station entrances and adjacent plazas. ABBOTSFORD
With the support of federal and provincial financing, farmers in British Columbia are able to participate in the B.C. On-Farm Technology Adoption Program, which provides them with access to new technology. This program aims to grow their companies and enhance productivity, ultimately strengthening food security in the province, implemented by Innovate BC, a British Columbia Crown agency.
The UFV long-service dinner in Abbotsford honoured Kartar Thandi, the organization’s longest-serving employee, as he celebrated his 45th anniversary.
With the help of $12 million from the province, Abbotsford Middle School will get a new extension made of prefabricated materials. This will give the school eight light, roomy classrooms and better learning settings for more kids. More room will be available for HVAC systems, lockers, and hallways. By fall 2025, a number of new prefabricated projects, including the extension, should be prepared for use by BC students.
An amendment to the Official Community Plan, as well as rezoning and development variance permit applications, were voted on by the council. These applications would enable the construction of a post-secondary institution and daycare at a new privately operated Khalsa school located at the northwest corner of Downes and Gladwin roads in Abbotsford.

In order to assist families with growing costs resulting from inflation, a one-year bonus will be added to BC Family Benefit payments this summer, giving them an average of $445 more than they received the previous year. The BC Family Benefit is a government of British Columbia payment that is sent to recipients via check or direct deposit, combined with the federal Canada Child Benefit.
