DELTA

Colleen Almrud

Realtor Colleen Almrud has been recognized as one of the top 10 per cent of Realtors in Greater Vancouver, winning the MLS Medallion Club award for 2023.

The City of Delta is among five BC municipalities awarded the Rick Hansen Foundation BC Accessibility Grant.

Reach Child & Youth Development Society will receive $1 for every treat purchased during the Delta Hot Chocolate Festival, which takes place from February 19th to March 23rd.

A federal investment of $917,050 through the Green Municipal Fund provide the City of Delta with $200,000 to study methods for reducing greenhouse gas emissions at various public and recreational buildings that generate the most carbon in the community.

The City of Delta has issued an RFP for marine structural engineers with  relevant experience to design a boat ramp to replace the one at Wellington Point.

TransLink receives $249,800 from a $917,050 federal Green Municipal Fund grant for its Metro Vancouver shared mobility pilot project. TransLink will use this grant for a larger pilot program to encourage 1,000 users to use alternative transportation following a successful trial conducted in 2019-2020.

Premier David Eby, along with Minister Bowinn Ma of Emergency Management, Agriculture Minister Pam Alexis, Abbotsford-Mission MLA, Sumas First Nation Coun. Troy Ganzeveld, and Mayor Ross Siemens of Abbotsford, announced that the province will be investing $76.6 million to upgrade the Barrowtown pump station in Abbotsford.

MAPLE RIDGE

Avison Young will soon offer for sale or lease the Kingston Business Park, which was developed by Cedar Coast and built by Orion Construction. The park is situated north of Port Kells and the Golden Ears Bridge in Maple Ridge.

Maple Ridge is opening its final public feedback period on a 2024 budget that addresses housing, public safety, economic growth, and infrastructure while managing taxpayer costs. At a special Council meeting on Feb. 13, Council approved service upgrades for the 2024 budget and 2024-2028 Financial Plan, raising property taxes by 6.5 per cent for the average $985,700 Maple Ridge home. The projected increase is below half of regional city increases.

The 2024 Heritage Awards Ceremony, organized by the Community Heritage Commission, will take place at the Albion Community Centre located at 24165 104th Ave on February 21st.

Maple Ridge has been recognized as one of the top places to work in BC for the first time in the BC’s Top Employers competition.

Maple Ridge City Council will be reading a rezoning Application for Units 102, 104, 106 and 116 at 22633 Selkirk Avenue to allow accessory Pharmacy use in a proposed new medical clinic/pharmacy in Phase 4 of the Brickwater Building. There will also be a public hearing in light of a rezoning application and Official Community Plan (OCP) Amendment at 11405 236 Street to permit the construction of 18 townhouse units on the developable portion of the site and adjust the boundaries and add lands to the Conservation designated area.

 

MISSION 

Slice Delight Pizza has opened at 8160 Manson Street, the former Pizza Time and Mission Mini Mart location.

Mr. Lube + Tires is now open for business at 32785 Loughweed Highway, Mission.

Over $800,000 will be distributed to Mission Public School District (MPSD) by the province through the Feeding Futures program. School districts will receive $214 million over three years to establish or enhance school-based food programs as part of the initiative.

The brand-new Maple View Heights Apartments, where residents have been settling in since January, hosted an open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, February 13.
