LANGLEY CHAMBER: HOSTS MAYOR, SPORTS TOURISM ORGANIZATIONS FOR DISCUSSION AT 2024 AGM

LANGLEY – Over 140 local business and community leaders joined the Langley Chamber for its 2024 Annual General Meeting, which also featured an update on the future of the Langley Events Centre property, and a panel discussion on the role and impact of sports tourism in the Langley community.

The event, hosted at the Langley Events Centre, began with a networking reception for attendees, and was followed by the formal Annual General Meeting proceedings, which saw the presentation of the Langley Chamber’s 2024 Annual Report (view here), the 2023-24 financial statements, and the welcoming of three new Board Directors:  Chen Liu (Trinity Western University), Leo Benne (Bevo Farms), and Lance Verhoeff (Trading Post Brewing).

The AGM wrapped up with a farewell to three departing Directors who were leaving the Board. Chamber CEO Cory Redekop thanked Sherrin Western (Shervin Communications), Rachel Bolongaro (Fraser Valley Cider Co) and Jack Nicholson (Otter Co-op) for their service on the Board and contributions to the Chamber.

Following the AGM and dinner, Township Mayor Eric Woodward provided an overview of the Langley Events Centre , and outlined what it provides for the community.  Mayor Woodward also detailed plans for the development of 200th Street into a vibrant, transit corridor, and the new vision currently being developed for the LEC property.

With Mayor Woodward’s overview as a backdrop, a panel discussion was held to discuss building sports tourism in Langley and its economy and community impact.  Moderated by Erinn Krebda, Executive Director of Tourism Langley, the panel included senior representatives of four Langley sports tourism organizations: Dale Saip (Vancouver Giants), Chris Pack (Thunderbird Showpark), Stephanie Wood (Vancouver Football Club) and Andrew Savory (Vancouver Bandits).
