DELTA 

The South Delta Primary Care Network and Fraer Health are seeking provincial funding to assist with the recruitment and clinic space to establish a Primary Care Network (PCN) for Ladner and Tsawwassen.

A revised Tsawwassen condo construction proposal, which calls for 68 apartments in a six-story structure at 1219 Hunter Road, was approved by Delta Council on Monday.

The King Charles III Coronation Medal was handed to three locals—Valerie Windsor, Curtis Miller Joe, and Alex Sangha—in a ceremony held at Tasty Indian Bistro on September 12 by Ravi Kahlon, BC New Democrat MLA for Delta North.

WestBond Enterprises Corporation has announced that all resolutions were passed at the Company’s Annual General shareholders meeting held on September 5, 2024. During the meeting, shareholders re-elected the current board of directors: Gennaro Magistrale, J. Douglas Seppala, D. Dan Dawson, and Peter R. Toigo. Westbond also approved the reappointment of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP as the company’s auditor. Shareholders of the Company have given the green light to continue with the current 10% rolling stock option plan, aligning with the TSX Venture Exchange‘s requirements.

The first intake of applications for Delta’s Community Grants Program opens on September 18, 2024 and closes on January 15, 2025.

 

WHITE ROCK

Peninsula Liquor Store held its Grand Opening on September 15th at 15388 24th Avenue, Surrey.

White Rock RCMP is organizing a public transit safety seminar on Thursday evening, Sept. 26. SURREY 

Jasroop Gosal

The Surrey Board of Trade’s Interim Spokesperson and Policy & Research Manager, Jasroop Gosal, has been appointed to the Invest Vancouver Management Board.

The City of Surrey is seeking Expressions of Interest/Statements of Qualification from businesses and individuals interested in retailing cannabis and cannabis-related items in the city.

Two fire trucks—a pumper and a ladder truck—were purchased by Surrey for approximately $5 million.

A new UBC health training facility for in-demand healthcare professions, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and midwifery, has opened at the City Centre 1 building in Surrey. The facility will train 20 physical therapy students, 16 occupational therapy students, and eight midwifery students annually. The space includes modern research labs, seminar rooms, and study areas, with $24.9 million in funding from the province.

The BC Trucking Association (BCTA), in partnership with the B.C. Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure proudly announces the newest intake of the CleanBC Heavy-duty Vehicle Efficiency (HDVE) Program. $1 million of funds will be available as rebates for this year’s Program which will run until August 31, 2025, or until the funds are fully allocated, whichever comes first.

The Highway 11 Interchange Project Request for Qualifications (RFQ) has been released by Infrastructure BC on behalf of the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure. The RFQ includes the following: the replacement of the interchange at Highway 11 and Highway 1, the replacement of the overpass that carries Highway 1 over Riverside Road, the Canadian Pacific Kansas City (“CPKC”) railway, and the Southern Railway of BC (“SRY”), the widening of 2.1 km of Highway 1 from McKenzie Road to just east of the Highway 11 Interchange, the upgrading of intersections at Highway 11/Marshall Road and Highway 11/Delair Road, and improved active transportation connections.

Power for All has been selected as a recipient of the Community Prosperity Fund, a $25 million initiative from the Government of B.C. aimed at promoting poverty reduction and social inclusion.

The Canadian government has pledged $25 million per annum to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, which will be used over the next four years to supply emergency food aid to areas hit by humanitarian crises all around the globe. The announcement was made at a farm in Abbotsford on September 12.

The fifth Abbotsford Film Festival, which takes place at The Reach Gallery Museum on October 4 and 5, is currently accepting reservations.

The City of Pitt Meadows is proposing three resolutions aimed at urging the provincial government to reform the farm property tax system, enhancing agricultural viability. This initiative will be presented at the 2024 Union of BC Municipalities Convention, scheduled for September 16-20.

The City of Mission‘s Forestry Legacy Reserve and BC Heritage‘s Heritage Legacy Fund are providing $240,000 to Mission Museum for conservation efforts aimed at preserving the local landmark.
