The ride-hailing service Uber Technologies Inc. is currently only accessible in Victoria, Metro Vancouver, and Kelowna, but in May 2023, the BC Passenger Transportation Board approved its operation throughout the province. The company is currently hiring drivers in preparation for its expansion outside of BC’s major cities beginning the following year.

A more than $10 million contract for Clearway Construction Inc. to replace 2,440 meters of sanitary sewers and drainage pipes in Whalley, Guildford, and Panorama and install a trunk drainage main will be reviewed by the Surrey City Council on Monday. If agreed, the council will approve $17,724,484.29 for 5,340 meters of sanitary sewer work this month, with a $19.5 million ceiling.
A total of $9.4 million has been allocated by Pacific Economic Development Canada to three different businesses. One of these is Nanak Foods, which will use the $5 million to increase sales of its specialty South Asian dairy products worldwide. The other two businesses, Dr. Ma’s Laboratories Inc. and LED SMART Inc., will use the $3.1 million and $1.2 million, respectively, to expand their operations and create new jobs in the natural health product industry.

Surrey City Council approved a $1.1M contract to Hilson Construction Ltd. for improvements to the Bridgeview Childcare Centre during a Regular Council Meeting on Nov. 4. The Bridgeview Community Centre is set to evolve into a Métis Family Services licensed daycare, and this project will allow the facility to provide essential childcare services for 48 children aged 0-5 while maintaining existing spaces for community recreation, including a gym and commercial kitchen.

The Ridge Meadows Farmers Institute has officially announced its readiness to establish its inaugural board of directors. This initiative aims to unite local farmers in a collective effort to ensure a sustainable agricultural future for Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.
The provincial government might need more than 5,000 additional units in Pitt Meadows by 2041, according to Christine Carter, manager of strategic initiatives.
