DELTA

The City of Delta is inviting feedback on the draft Master Plan for Annieville Lions Park. This plan focuses on renewing infrastructure and prioritizing tree retention to enhance site flexibility and support shared uses. The primary objectives focus on enhancing accessibility, arrival experiences, and park connections to foster an inclusive and user-friendly environment.

On Tuesday, July 8, 2025, Delta council and project team members held a groundbreaking ceremony to formally announce the beginning of construction on the new Winskill Aquatic and Fitness Centre.

Delta may pre-zone the 72nd Avenue corridor to allow townhouse development along the important North Delta corridor as envisioned in the city’s Official Community Plan.

On August 10th, Ladner’s Memorial Park will play host to the Delta Community Animal Expo, a joint effort between FortisBC and the Delta Community Animal Shelter.

The North Delta Recreation Centre, located at 11415 84th Ave., hosts the North Delta Farmers Market on alternate Saturdays until October 4th.

Delta Intellient Building Technologies officially broke ground for their new global headquarters.

Westland Insurance, a major player in Canada’s insurance brokerage sector, has completed the acquisition of Forefront Insurance Inc., with the deal taking effect on July 1.

Kevin Bieksa will be a keynote speaker at the 2025 ICBA Construction Innovation Summit, scheduled for October 2-3, 2025, at the JW Marriott Parq Vancouver.

Prospera Credit Union, Sunshine Coast, and Coast Capital will now look for the regulatory clearances required to finalize the merger.

Peterson has successfully obtained finance and closed on its acquisition of Create Properties, a master-planned development in Burnaby Lake Village. Creditor protection has been lifted from the project.

On July 12, Surrey Farms held its annual family-friendly blueberry festival at its location at 152 Street. Food trucks and vendors including as The Stackers, Roasted Revolution, Bean & Berry, Primos Street Eats, and Bad Mash Café joined the event.

The Surrey Fusion Festival is set to make its comeback at Holland Park in Whalley next weekend, on July 19 and 20.

The Storehouse Inaugural Golf Classic, a fundraiser for the Cloverdale Community Hub Society‘s Storehouse Regional Foodbank expansion, is scheduled for September 17th at Hazelmere Golf & Tennis Club.

LANGLEY

Neil Martin

Neil Martin has joined Astria Properties, taking on the role of Head of Retail Investments.

The Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce is calling for nominations for this year’s Langley Business Excellence Awards, which will take place on October 23 at the Coast Langley City Hotel & Conference Centre and honour local companies and entrepreneurs.

The final reading of the rezoning bylaws for the property located at 20069 80 Avenue has been accepted by the Langley Township council, opening the door for the development of a 7-story apartment complex with 289 units. Additionally, the ground level of the complex will have about 1,943 square meters of commercial space.

A rezoning and community plan amendment that will permit the construction of a new church for the Grace Hanin Community Church on the outskirts of Murrayville in the 22900 block of 48 Street was approved by the Langley Township council.

The Abbotsford Agrifair is scheduled on August 3.

 

CHILLIWACK 

RCMP Supt. Darren Pankratz has been appointed as the new Officer-in-Charge of the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment.

Aaron Pete has been elected as the new chief of Chawathil First Nation.

The 1.78-acre retail property located at 5625 Promontory Road in Chilliwack has been listed by Harpreet Singh and Ingrid Soide of Cushman & Wakefield.

Arabelle’s Bakery, a Black-owned business in Chilliwack, has secured a $10,000 grant from DoorDash Canada.

Through accessibility grants from the Rick Hansen Foundation, Evergreen Hall has carried out improvements, including the recent installation of power-operated doors, which have significantly enhanced accessibility.
