DELTA

After a $35 million financing deal from a group of investors that includes Mitsubishi Corp., Asahi Kasei Corp., InBC Investment Corp., Orion Industrial Ventures and Export Development Canada, Mangrove Lithium, a cleantech company based in British Columbia that was listed among the top 100 by the Cleantech Group last year, announced plans to construct a new lithium refining plant in Delta.

The City of Delta has planned several opportunities for residents to learn more about the application to redevelop the Tsawwassen Town Centre Mall Site. The proposal includes four mixed-use residential towers up to 24 storeys in height as well as several mid-rise buildings up to six storeys in height. The engagement program will begin on February 4 and will run until March 16.

Canada Made Earth’s Own products, founded more than 25 years ago in Burnaby, are made at three local production facilities: in Delta, BCMississauga, ON, and Quebec City, QC.

The Delta Hospital Auxiliary Society has secured a significant pledge of $3 million, leading to naming recognition for the Day Program for Older Adults at the new Beadie Long-Term Care Centre located at the Delta Hospital Campus of Care. 

More than 10,000 pounds of different kinds of steel have been kindly donated by Cascadia Metals (Delta branch) to Seaquam Secondary School to support the students in the Machining and Welding program. 

The KinVillage Giant Book Sale will take place from February 28 to March 2 for its 19th year.

 

WHITE ROCK 

The City of White Rock is set to advance a new Community Hub project aimed at centralizing municipal services and improving community spaces at the vacant lot located at 1510 Johnston Rd.

Last Thread Standing, a new thrift store which shares the space with Health Express, has opened at 1550 Johnston Road in White Rock.

The International Yacht Club of B.C., located in White Rock and Blaine, will be dissolved in 2025.

South Surrey & White Rock Chamber of Commerce is celebrating Black History Month at the After Work Chamber Mixer Presented by the White Rock Museum & Archives where the museum will debut their newest exhibit detailing the Black experience in BC. The event will take place on February 12, from 5:30 – 7:30 at the Marine Room.

 

SURREY

Construction of the new synthetic field hockey field #3 at Tamanawis Park has been awarded to Cedar Crest Lands BC Ltd in the amount of $3,871,350 (including taxes).

Shade tree watering services for the City of Surrey have been awarded to Horizon Landscape Contractors Inc. for a one year term with an estimated base cost of $1,445,000 (including GST) for the first year.

Seaspan‘s Vancouver Shipyards Welding Centre of Excellence lab has earned International Organization for Standardization accreditation for mechanical testing and Canadian Welding Bureau certification. 

The City of Surrey has teamed up with several major Canadian cities to create the Border Mayors Alliance, aiming to tackle the looming challenge of a proposed 25% U.S. tariff on Canadian goods.

Securiforce Services, Ltd. has been selected as the Security and Monitoring Surveillance provider for the New Surrey Hospital and BC Cancer Centre by EllisDon.
