DELTA

The development of a new lithium refinery in Delta will be financed by a $50 million funding agreement just disclosed by Mangrove Lithium, a cleantech company that was initially supported by Bill Gates’ Breakthrough Energy Ventures.

The Delta Police Department (DPD) has been recognized as one of British Columbia’s Top 100 Employers for the seventh year in a row.

A high-speed, reliable fibre optics connection is set to be installed for the new Winskill facility, ensuring connectivity for voice and data services via DeltaNet. 

A $1 million donation from Bob Binkley and Shirley Cook will be used to support critical care needs at Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation (DHCH Foundation), with $250,000 going to the brand-new Beedie Long Term Care Centre.

Windset Farms is celebrating winning three categories at this year’s PAC Global categories: Award of distinction: Packaging innovation design, Award of distinction: Sustainable package design, and Best in class: Brand marketing.

 

WHITE ROCK

Melissa Ravensbergen of Murray Hyundai White Rock won the prized ALL STAR AWARD for BC for WalkAway from Insurance Insight Inc.

A massive restoration project on the Burnaby Campus’s southern side has begun at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) with the goal of improving the working conditions for faculty and students and enhancing the practical education offered by the institution.

The Fraser Valley Real Estate Board announced the election of its new Broker Council, including Chair Natalie Tarrant, Vice Chair Darcy Reddicopp, and elected councillors Dane Eitel, Bianca Myddleton, and Liz Penner, who join continuing councillors Herb Fischer, Kelvin Neufeld, and Del Touet. The newly elected Broker Council will shape the future of the FVREB Broker Division.

B.C. will implement a 2.6 per cent wage increase for its lowest-paid workers on June 1, 2025, aligning with inflation. The general minimum wage will rise from $17.40 to $17.85 per hour, following changes to the Employment Standards Act in spring 2024.

The Province will submit legislation in spring 2025 to empower the BC Energy Regulator to regulate renewable energy projects including wind and solar for faster permits and stronger regulation. Adrian Dix, Minister of Energy and Climate Solutions, made the announcement in front of successful First Nations and clean-energy partners who signed electricity purchase agreements (EPAs) with BC Hydro, which will generate $5 billion to $6 billion in private capital spending across the province.

Willowbrook Park Shopping Centre in Langley, has been acquired out by Shato Holdings Ltd. for $137 million, making it one of the biggest purchases in Metro Vancouver this year. 

Perimeter Transport has officially launched its service to Langley.

Superior Tile Contracting announced the completion of a tile restoration project at Audi Langley Showroom.
