DELTA

With funding from the Community Prosperity Fund (CPF), awarded through the Delta Community Foundation, Reach Child and Youth Development Society has raised $21,000 to support Delta Housing Be Mine Society, a grassroots non-profit that promotes inclusive and reasonably priced housing options for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities residing in Delta.

In 2025, the City of Delta is adding an eighth market day and making the Ladner Village Market bigger by extending it down Delta and Bridge streets and letting village businesses set up pop-up booths.

The Tsawwassen Town Centre Mall site is being rezoned to make way for a mixed-use development, according to an application that has been received by the City of Delta. At the December 2, 2024, regular meeting of Council, the application will be presented for information.

Ladner Business Association has announced Stoilen Alston & Lang as the winner of their 2024 Wreath Decorating contest.

 

WHITE ROCK

The City of White Rock has received council approval for CCTV coverage of the waterfront. The initial phase will focus on East Beach, extending from Finlay Street to near Grand Chief Bernard Robert Charles Memorial Plaza, with a total cost of $253,888.

Five recommendations in the City of Abbotsford‘s draft strategy for handling overnight commercial truck parking were accepted during the council meeting. After then, it moves on to the next phase, which involves getting more input from the public and business community before being brought to the council for review.

 

CHILLIWACK

The Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce is hosting the Coffee Chats with the Chamber networking event on December 12th at the South Sumas Bistro.

MAPLE RIDGE 

Wendy Mehat, previously the Officer-in-Charge of the Ridge Meadows RCMP, is transitioning to her new position as Chief Superintendent with the BC RCMP’s Provincial Operations Support Team.

Maple Ridge City Council has approved the Certified Professional (CP) Program, which is set to launch on January 1, 2025. Amendments to the Maple Ridge Building Bylaw have been approved to facilitate its implementation.

MISSION 

A planned 159-unit complex at 9023 Cedar Street in Mission, which consists of two five-story buildings joined by a parking lot, will be open for feedback from residents.

The Mission Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Candlelight Parade is scheduled on Saturday, December 7th at 1st Avenue, from Horne to Haig Street.

A survey has been launched by the city featuring designs and proposals for the playgrounds at Gary MacDonald and Jack Wade Park.
