Donny van Dyk

Donny van Dyk, the current City Manager of Delta, has been appointed as the new City Manager of Vancouver. 

Dr. Paul Keown from Delta has received the 2025 Leadership and Advocacy Award from Clinical Trials BC.

A total of $105,000 has been awarded to several Delta-based organizations, including: $25,000 for the Delta Hospital and Community Foundation, $20,000 for the Heron Hospice Society, $10,000 for Step Forward Health Society, $25,000 for the Big Sisters of the BC Lower Mainland, Surrey and Delta, and $25,000 for Reach Child and Youth Development Society, as the First West Foundation is currently awarding $517,680 to worthy charities across the Fraser Valley through its Envision Financial Community Endowment.

The Metro Vancouver Regional District Board approved Delta’s Regional Growth Strategy modification bylaw to rezone 5133 Springs Blvd. from Agricultural to General Urban for 60 townhouses.

The application to construct a new six-story condominium building on 55A Street in Tsawwassen, which would have 177 residential units, indoor and outdoor amenity spaces, and three levels of underground parking accessible from 15B Avenue, was granted preliminary approval by the majority of the Delta council.

BC Ferries is investing locally to recycle the Bowen Queen and the Powell River Queen as part of their long-term fleet renewal strategy. The project contributes to the augmentation of marine recycling capacity in British Columbia and the preservation of BC employment opportunities. The work will be concluded at a recycling site in Surrey after being carried out by Marine Recycling Corporation (MRC) at Esquimalt Graving Dock, a federally managed facility. The project will receive the assistance of up to 25 employees from Point Hope Maritime Ltd. in the City of Victoria.

The Surrey Board of Trade is collaborating with the City of Surrey, Pacific Economic Development Canada | Développement économique Canada pour le Pacifique, and the World Trade Centre Vancouver to host the Understanding Cusma Compliance, a dynamic, expert-led session on September 11 at the Civic Hotel. The session is intended to assist Canadian businesses in navigating the complexities of the Canada–United States–Mexico Agreement (CUSMA).
