SURREY

BC Transit will soon launch its first electric bus, which will travel from Vancouver to Victoria. Buses will keep arriving until the fall of 2025.

ABBOTSFORD 

The Abbotsford Police Department and the City of Abbotsford announce the successful completion of Phase 1 of the expansion project for the Abbotsford Police Department Headquarters (AbbyPD HQ).

CHILLIWACK 

The Chilliwack Metropolitan Orchestra is set to host a Star Wars-themed concert titled May the 4th Be With You on Sunday, May 4 at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre.

The Chilliwack Garden Club will hold its annual Plant Sale at Cooke’s Presbyterian Church hall, located at 45825 Wellington Ave., on May 3.

Moms can enjoy free admission at the Mother’s Day Celebration event happening at Greendale Acres Farm at 41905 Yale Rd. W. on May 11.

The annual Spring Garage Sale of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary will take place at 5661 Vedder Road on May 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

UFV‘s Atrium will host the first Chilliwack Book Festival on May 10th, presented by The Owl and The Cat Bookery.

 

PITT MEADOWS 

An additional $18,000 per year will be provided by the Ridge Meadows Chamber of Commerce under a new fee-for-service agreement with the City of Pitt Meadows.

The Canadian Flight Centre is now operational in Pitt Meadows after receiving official approval from Transport Canada.

This Mother’s Day weekend (May 10–11) marks the return of the Maple Ridge & Pitt Meadows Art Studio Tour for its 25th year.

 

MAPLE RIDGE

Maple Ridge officials have announced plans to transform city-owned golf course land into two new ball fields at the Maple Ridge Golf Course, enhancing local recreation facilities.

Woodlock Developments, a builder from Maple Ridge, has received an award  from Homebuilders Association Vancouver for their Everwood townhouse project located on Fern Crescent.

The province is spending $304 million over five years in United Way BC to provide and develop community-based senior services during a meeting at the Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Community Services office, according to Health Minister Josie Osborne.

 

MISSION 

The Mission City Farmers Market kicks off its 29th season with a Grand Opening on Saturday, May 3rd, at Centennial Park’s south side in Mission.
