NORTHERN BC – Eleven non-profit agencies in Northern BC will receive a portion of the funds raised through the Coastal GasLink Legacy Fund, which was developed to support the communities that support the people who work and live in 16 communities along the Coastal GasLink project route. The funding comes at a time when many non-profit agencies, working at their full capacity, have almost exhausted their available resources and need continued support to ensure they are able to support our most vulnerable.
After a thorough assessment of the applications and recommendations made by a committee of community stakeholders from across Northern BC, $97,000 has been allocated to these agencies for programs and services that support food security, poverty & social assistance, and mental health & addictions.
The funding has been made available through the generosity of Coastal GasLink and their community-minded prime contractors – Surerus Murphy Joint Venture, SA Energy Group, Pacific Atlantic Pipeline Construction (PAPC), Macro Spiecapag Joint Venture, Ledcor-Haisla Limited Partnership and Aecon Group Inc..
The fund is administered as a partnership between the United Way of Northern BC (UWNBC) and Coastal GasLink.
