FORT ST JOHN – The City of Fort St. John has announced the launch of two grant opportunities to foster community development and support local initiatives. These grants are designed to empower community groups, organizations, and local businesses in their efforts to contribute to our vibrant and thriving community.
Business Facade Improvement Grant:
Applications for the City of Fort St. John Business Façade Improvement Program are now open for the 2024 intake. This program, funded by the Mayor’s Standing Committee on Community Economic Development and the Northern Development Initiative Trust, aims to enhance the visual appeal of local businesses through exterior renovations or signage, thereby improving the overall aesthetics of commercial and building areas.
The grant funding area has been expanded for 2024, providing even more businesses with the opportunity to participate. By participating in this program, eligible businesses will receive a one-time 50% reimbursement grant, with a maximum limit of $5,000 per building or project. Each side of the building is eligible for up to $5,000 for a maximum of $10,000 for corner buildings. The grant aims to support various visual improvements such as facades, murals, siding, lighting, awnings, and architectural features.
Event or Conference Sponsorship Grant:
The City of Fort St. John is proud to introduce the Event or Conference Sponsorship Grant, which offers financial assistance of up to $3,000 and is designed to support conferences or events hosted by community groups or organizations. The grant is part of a commitment to bolstering community pride, economic development opportunities, and cultural and educational initiatives.
Mayor Lilia Hansen states, “We are committed to community development and economic vitality as we foster a vibrant, inclusive, and visually appealing Fort St. John.”
