PRINCE GEORGE – The City of Prince George and the Prince George Cougars Hockey Club are pleased to announce the signing of a new four-year license agreement for the CN Centre.

The previous agreement between the City and EDGEPRO Sports and Entertainment Ltd. (the owners of the Cougars) expired on July 31, 2024, and the new agreement extends through 2028, with an option to extend for an additional four years.

Under the agreement, the City will receive an annual flat fee for ticket sales and commissions on additional ticket sales, food, and beverage revenue. The City will also receive a 50% split with the Cougars on private suite rental fees at the CN Centre.

“The Prince George Cougars are deeply woven into the fabric of the CN Centre, Prince George, and Northern British Columbia,” says Glen Mikkelsen, CN Centre Manager. “We are fortunate to have such a special group of people owning, managing, and operating the Club. Not every community or venue is as lucky to have a team that values partnership. We look forward to the excitement and energy that the Cougars and their talented players will continue to bring to our community.”

Director of Business for the Prince George Cougars Hockey Club, Taylor Dakers, echoes this sentiment. “The Prince George Cougars are very happy to have this agreement completed. For 30 years this franchise has seen fantastic support from the residents of Prince George as well as the city staff at the CN Centre and we’re eager to give everyone more to cheer about in the coming years,” Mr Dakers said.

The Prince George Cougars have been a part of the city since 1994 and have played at the CN Centre since 1995. The Club is looking forward to another record-breaking Western Hockey League (WHL) season following their success in the 2023-2024 season.
