– The Business Council of British Columbia is a non-partisan organization made up of 250 leading companies, post-secondary institutions and organizations from across the province’s diverse economy.
BC – The Business Council of British Columbia recently released the following statement from President and CEO, Greg D’Avignon:
“The Business Council of British Columbia congratulates Premier John Horgan and his cabinet colleagues on being sworn in as British Columbia’s new Government.
“As we all know, the government’s first priority must be to address the urgent wildfire situation affecting so many British Columbians around the province, and we offer our unconditional support in that effort.
“The new government has come to office with a platform that addresses a number of issues of concern to families across the province, including affordability, public confidence in our institutions, and ensuring strong social supports are in place.
“Some of these topics are reflected in the Business Council’s BC2035: A Vision for Economic Growth and Prosperity report released earlier this year and we look forward to working with all members of the new government to advance a more prosperous and inclusive BC economy.
“As the work of government gets underway, there is an opportunity to bring renewed focus to how we collaboratively create the conditions for economic prosperity to support a cleaner, more inclusive and affordable future for British Columbians.
“We support greater public investment, alongside private investment, to fuel a competitive economy underpinned by an educated and skilled workforce, greater reconciliation with First Nations, and a stepped-up pace of innovation and technological development across all industry sectors. Business and government must work together to achieve this vision.
“Congratulations to Premier Horgan and his cabinet colleagues. The hard work of governing on behalf of British Columbians is just beginning. We believe it will be through collaboration with government, First Nations, community and business leaders that together, we will secure a strong, prosperous future for British Columbia.”
