VICTORIA – How would you spend up to $50,000 to improve life in Victoria?! If you have an idea for a project, initiative or event, now is the time to submit it to the Participatory Budgeting Steering Committee. Later this year, the community will be invited to vote on which ideas they like the most. Proposals can be for some, or all, of the $50,000.
The Participatory Budgeting Steering Committee, a citizen-based group of volunteers, will be accepting proposals starting in mid-August. Proposals can be submitted by individuals, groups, or community organizations and will be accepted until September 28, 2017.
To submit a proposal, complete this form and send it to the Participatory Budgeting Steering Committee at pb@victoria.ca. Application forms can also be dropped off in person at City Hall.
This is the first year the City of Victoria has empowered the community to decide what to do with a portion of the City budget. The Steering Committee was brought together in May and has been developing a model to empower community members in budget decision-making. - Bike Rack: $500
- Wall Mural: $500-$1,000
- Park Bench: $2,000-$2,500
- Community Stage Parklet: $10,000 – $20,000
