KELOWNA – The City of Kelowna is inviting citizens to join a community forum to help shape the vision and priorities for future generations as part of Imagine Kelowna, a new community vision initiative.
On Saturday, April 8, this full-day mini-conference style event at the Kelowna Yacht Club will include sharing the outcomes of the first phase of public input over the past eight months and presenting trends affecting cities in a globalized world. An interactive day of guest speakers, subject matter experts and facilitated discussions is planned against the backdrop of amazing views of the Okanagan.
“We’ve been hearing firsthand from citizens over the past eight months through face-to-face discussion and online what they love best about Kelowna, the challenges ahead and their aspirations to ensure we continue to thrive in times of great change,” said Rafael Villarreal, Project Manager of Imagine Kelowna.
“Now, we’re at a stage where the vision will become more clear and citizens will have an opportunity to be a part of the legacy to help future-proof Kelowna.”
A wide range of interests, ages and backgrounds is being sought to reflect the community as a whole. Interested community members ages 16 and up are encouraged to complete an expression of interest to participate by visiting imagine.kelowna.ca.
The expression of interest will close March 27 with notification to randomly selected participants by March 30. A limit of 180 participants has been established.
A free day camp for children 6 to 12 years of age will be available at Parkinson Recreation Centre for those with families who would like to participate in the community forum.
