247 Fulfillment is expanding with a new west coast location in the province. The company is seeking a warehouse and operations manager who possesses strong logistics expertise, determination, and technical skills in WMS to oversee its new site in Delta.

The Dogs with Wings Assistance Dog Society has announced the expansion of its Mobility Service Dog (MSD) program to the Vancouver and Delta regions.

Mangrove Lithium is currently in the process of constructing the North American’s first electrochemical lithium refining plant in Delta, B.C. This facility will be capable of producing battery-grade materials that will power approximately 25,000 electric vehicles annually.

Debra Doucette

Debra Doucette has been appointed as the Chair of Odlum Brown, an investment firm headquartered in Vancouver. Doucette has been with Odlum Brown since 1991 and served as President and CEO for 17 years before becoming Executive Chair and CEO a year ago.

Dr. Bonnie Henry, who is leading British Columbia’s public health response to the opioid overdose crisis and spearheaded the province’s pandemic response as the provincial health officer, will be inducted as an officer of the Order of Canada.

Fraserview, a Surrey-based company known for its manufactured wood products since 1994, has acquired the Coulson Mill, situated a few kilometres up the Alberni Inlet, for an undisclosed amount.

LANGLEY 

A modification to a massive development project in Fort Langley’s downtown, situated on property owned by the mayor’s foundation and being developed by Fort Langley Properties Ltd., was authorized by the Langley Township council.

Over the next five years, the Langley School District plans to spend an estimated $1 billion on 18 large-scale construction projects, such as new schools, acquisition of school sites, and expansions.

The automated waste collection service in Langley City will begin in August 2025, and new bins for garbage and organics will be distributed to single-family homes and non-strata townhouses starting July 9.

 

ABBOTSFORD 

Michael de Jong, K.C. has joined Maple Leaf Strategies team in Western Canada as a Strategic Advisor – Western Canada. 

The IKEA Abbotsford Plan and order point, situated in the West Oaks Mall at 32700 South Fraser Way, Unit 80, is expected to open in late Fall 2025, expanding the chain’s network of such locations across Canada.

The proposed construction of a 100-unit apartment structure on Whatcom Road, in close proximity to Castle Fun Park, is currently in the advance stages of approval.

MAPLE RIDGE

The public is being urged to support the Alouette River Management Society (ARMS), which has been working for nearly a year to restore a significant salmon breeding river in Maple Ridge.

The seniors wellness clinic at Maple Ridge Seniors Activity Centre, run by the Ridge Meadows Seniors Society, will be closed for the month of August.

A new 129-unit complex named On the Edge Apartments is set to be constructed at the intersection of Edge Street and 121st Avenue.

The City of Maple Ridge and Kwantlen First Nation are collaborating on Bring to Market Industrial Land Study, aimed at attracting industrial investment and creating jobs on about 119 hectares of underused industrial land in Albion.

A new strategy for Investment Attraction and Business Retention and Expansion has been endorsed by the Maple Ridge City Council. This strategy will serve as a roadmap for the subsequent stages in the development of a robust, diversified local economy, the attraction of new investment, and the support of local businesses.

The Ridge Meadows Chamber of Commerce and the City of Maple Ridge have partnered again, building on the two-year alliance’s success. The new agreement extends support for services like advocacy, events, and business development.
