VICTORIA – Construction industry icons Knappett Group of Companies and the Matcon Group have officially merged.
The merger brings together two industry leaders, and both Matcon and Knappett will continue operating as they have for the past 20-plus and 30-plus years. The partnership brings increased capacity, broader expertise, and greater resources for their clients. The combined firm will cover projects throughout Vancouver Island, the lower mainland and northern BC.
A press release announced: “this partnership brings increased capacity, broader expertise, and greater resources to meet all project needs. Our commitment to quality, safety, and client satisfaction remains unchanged. We’re excited for what’s ahead — and we look forward to building the future.”
Matcon Excavation & Shoring Ltd. was incorporated in 2002 with the founding partners of Matcon Civil Constructors. Adam Heath and Stephen Jungaro met in 1995 while working together at Matcon Civil Constructors and by 2006, they were the sole owners of Matcon Excavating & Shoring Ltd.
Originally specializing in Excavation and Shotcrete Shoring projects, Matcon expanded their technology base in 2004 to add Jet Grouting to meet the requirements of the more complex project soils that were being encountered.
Their head office is in Coquitlam, and their services offered include excavation and shoring, civil infrastructure to demolition, environmental and rock stabilization.
The Knappett Group of Companies was founded in 1983, and is headquartered in Victoria, with an additional office in Courtenay. In business for over four decades, the company has public Institutional buildings, Civil works, Major Industrial Buildings, Multi Family and Social housing, heritage building renewals, building additions and upgrades, and Building Envelope Repairs.
Knappett’s past projects have been some of the largest and most complex projects on Vancouver Island and the surrounding Gulf Islands. They have over 200 full-time workers across Vancouver Island.
