Carole Taylor, a veteran journalist and politician, will discuss the advantages and obstacles of establishing a province-wide continuum of care alongside three top addiction experts at the Save Our Streets Communities Driving Change Forum on January 23. Dr. Pouya Azar, Head of Complex Pain Coastal Health Service at Vancouver Coastal Health, will join Taylor on the panel discussing a continuum of care for addictions and mental illnesses. Also participating are Dr. Nickie Mathew, an addiction and forensic psychiatrist, and Marshall Smith, Vice President of Rubicon Strategy and former Chief of Staff to the Premier of Alberta.

Aryze Developments will hold a meeting regarding the updated housing project at 1934 Hovey Rd. in Saanichton. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 15, at St. Mary’s Anglican Church.

Two specific areas have been designated for expropriation procedures in Saanich. One area is a small portion of 2543 Richmond Rd., which is less than 50 square meters, located at the intersection of Richmond Road and Haultain Street. The other area is nearly 430 square meters, and it includes multiple commercially owned plots at the intersection of Shelbourne Street and Cedar Hill Cross Road.

The development of a multi-story apartment building with 384 units, retail space, and one level of underground parking was approved by the Saanich council at Nicola MPC‘s request to postpone the start of the project at 1555-1595 McKenzie Ave.

The City of Langford has spent $9.8 million to acquire Woodlands Park, located at 848 Hockley Ave. and will bring more than six acres of greenery to the downtown area.

Sooke has awarded a construction contract worth $1.944 million to Regehr Contracting for a new pedestrian bridge over DeMamiel Creek/Little River.
