ONE BEAR MOUNTAIN WINS AT CAPITAL REGION COMMERCIAL BUILDING AWARDS

VICTORIA One Bear Mountain won the Judges’ Choice Best Overall Entry in the third annual Capital Region Commercial Building Awards held Thursday night at the Delta Ocean Pointe Resort, presented by Coastal Community Credit Union.

One Bear Mountain, at 2000 Hannington Road in Langford, was also named the Award of Excellence winner in the Multi-Family Condominium category, sponsored by Viking Properties.

A total of 49 projects from Sooke to Sidney were finalists in the event, which celebrated the best in commercial, industrial and revenue producing properties completed between January 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024.

Gold Sponsors of the event were MNP LLP, PlyGem Canada and DHK Architects. One Bear Mountain was developed by 360 Pacifica/Terracap, with Campbell Construction the General Contractor, ACDF Architecture the Design Architect, and Zeidler Architecture as the Architect of Record.

The development features 209 condos, including penthouses, and 21,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor recreational areas.

Rather than demolishing the existing base of the building, which had been constructed by a previous developer and stood for many years, the owners made a conscious decision to work with it, minimizing waste and environmental disruption.

It was also a big night for Cascadia Architects, which was name Architect of the Year, sponsored by Exotica Stone. The firm was the architect for five projects honoured at the event, including The Queenswood Child Care Facility Project, Brio Apartments, The Redfern Residences, Monashee and Plexxis Lakepoint Place.
