KELOWNA – A new active transportation corridor (ATC) is coming to downtown Kelowna and the proposed concept design is ready for review online and in-person. The Bertram ATC will connect the Sutherland and Cawston ATCs along Bertram Street with a protected bike path designed to ensure the safety and convenience of pedestrians and cyclists. Residents are invited to review the design and share their priorities by joining the conversation online until Nov. 6th. Additionally, an in-person information session will be held at City Hall on Oct. 24 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. for those who wish to meet with the project team to discuss the new route. Council rezoned City-owned land at 4690 Hwy 97 N , located south of UBCO, for the development of a new regional transit operations and maintenance facility. The proposal is consistent with the City’s Transportation Master Plan which recognizes that investing in transit is critical to supporting the 2040 Official Community Plan and keeping Kelowna moving as the city’s population grows. More than $180,000 is available to support local non-profit arts, culture and heritage organizations. Beginning Sept. 23, these groups can once again apply for funding to support their organizations or special projects. Starting October 7th, randomly selected households throughout the Central Okanagan and Vernon will receive a letter inviting them to participate in the 2024 Okanagan Travel Survey between Oct. 7 and early November. Anyone who receives a letter is encouraged to complete the survey, as participation is crucial for directing decision in their community as well as throughout the region.
