PARKSVILLE – If there’s one constant in this world, it’s change. And that’s the focus of Maigus Group Inc, which has been offering internationally recognized programs to equip leaders and teams to navigate organizational change with minimal disruption and dysfunction since 2007.

“We work with leaders and their teams to make change successful,” says Terri Duguay, one of the Managing Partners alongside Mike Hackett.

Mike points out that at the root of the company’s success is their breadth and depth as change management specialists.

“We started it because we grew tired of doing change management that resulted in change only being done to people,” he recalls. “It is people who actually make change happen in organizations, and if people don’t buy into the plan, it won’t happen.” Mike observes. “As much as we want to deny it, we don’t do ‘change’ well. That’s why clients come back to us – we help them do change better.”

Maigus’ most popular program, Strengthening Personal & Team Resilience, is a 3-part series. The first level provides participants with a view to their approach to addressing change and provides them with the tools to have the best possible strategy to meet life’s inevitable challenges. The second level focuses on the team’s resilience and the strengths and gaps in their collective change strategy. The third level is for leaders who want to learn how to lead through change successfully.

Maigus’s second most popular program puts the spotlight on the 3 “C’s” of team effectiveness. It provides teams with insight into how to Communicate effectively, Collaborate and lessen Conflict within the team and beyond. It is a 2-part program with the first level focusing on communication preferences and conflict triggers for individual team members. Level 2 moves the focus to the team strengths and opportunities for harnessing their collective super powers.

They are both proud of the long-term relationships that they have established, working globally with clients such as: ScotiaBank (since 2010), Price Waterhouse Coopers (since 2011), SunLife Insurance for five years, and Canada Pension Plan since 2018. Terri says, “We are excited to be breaking into the local market and working with great companies such as Peninsula Co Op, BC Energy Regulators and Inclusion Parkville to name a few.”

In addition, they currently have a strong link with Royal Roads University, working with them in both the Custom Learning and Professional and Continuing Studies departments.  Terri says, “We are grateful for the trust and support of RRU which has resulted in us working with their valued clients for over 5 years.”

On top of the client work, Maigus programs can also be found in the Professional & Continuing Studies calendar. For example, Mindful Resilience in the Workplace, a 4-week online program, is offered 2 to 3 times per year.

“We’re all about equipping leaders and teams to make better decisions, stay productive and continue to work well together,” Mike notes.  And both are well equipped to do so. Terri is a certified Change Management Professional with over 25 years of experience as an Organizational Development Executive, holds a Master’s degree and is certified in Adult Training. Mike hails from the UK where he honed his expertise in Business Development, Sales Training, Marketing and Change Capability. He is also a Certified Facilitator, Executive Coach, keynote speaker and regular media contributor.

Their success enabled them to capture the Professional Services Business of the Year category at the MNP Vancouver Island Business Excellence Awards earlier this year.

“We are very proud of that” states Terri. “The award was very significant to us.”

Next month, in October, you will find them presenting at the 18th annual VIEA Economic Summit in Nanaimo as part of the Professional Development offerings featured on Tuesday, October 22nd. Terri notes “The summit is an important, annual event for entrepreneurs and business on the island. We are excited to be a part of it!”
