 DELTA 

The City of Delta has recently initiated a campaign called Save Our Transit. This campaign aims to increase public awareness regarding the potential cuts to transit services. Delta residents are being encouraged to take action by writing to the premier and other provincial officials, urging them to establish a sustainable funding model for TransLink.

Pure Sunfarms, one of the world’s largest cannabis greenhouse facilities, has become the first cannabis producer in the province to secure funding for a wildlife enhancement initiative.

The Surrey Langley SkyTrain project has reached a major milestone with the awarding of all three contracts, bringing high-quality and affordable transportation closer to reality.

  • SkyLink Guideway Partners (SLGP) has been selected to undertake the design, construction, and financing of the elevated guideway and its related roadworks, utilities, and active transportation components. SLGP consists of Dragados Canada Inc., Ledcor Investments Inc., and Ledcor Mining Ltd.
  • South Fraser Station Partners (SFSP) is a collaboration between Aecon Constructors, Acciona Infrastructure Canada Inc., and Pomerleau BC Inc. Together, they will be responsible for constructing the eight new stations.
  • Transit Integrators BC (TIBC), responsible for designing and building the systems and trackwork, consists of AtkinsRéalis Major Projects Inc., AtkinsRéalis Canada Inc., and Western Pacific Enterprises Ltd.

Abbotsford

The Fraser Valley’s Highway 1 will receive $2.65 billion in funding for the upgrades between 264th Street and Mount Lehman Road. It comprises modernizing Highway 1 between Mount Lehman Road and Highway 11 in Abbotsford.

Sahota’s Live Grill is expanding and will soon be opening a new location in Abbotsford.

For the next ten years, Canada’s $10.4 billion commitment to buy up to 16 P-8A aircraft for the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) will support over 3,000 employment and contribute roughly $358 million to the country’s GDP annually.

KF Aerospace, which operates all over Canada and has been specializing in Boeing airframes for more than 35 years, was selected the 2023 Boeing Supplier of the Year for Safety and Quality.

 

CHILLIWACK 

The aging Bradley Centre, which first opened at Chilliwack General Hospital in 1973, will be replaced by a new five-story facility built by Fraser Health in 2026. The project’s estimated $274 million capital costs will be split between the province and Fraser Valley Regional Hospital District.

MAPLE RIDGE 

The City of Maple Ridge has received approval from the Agricultural Land Commission (ALC) for a $23.5-million expansion of the Albion Arena. This significant project includes the addition of a fourth ice sheet and upgrades such as a new NHL-sized rink, a fitness space, viewing areas, and other amenities.

On September 10, the RMH Foundation will be conducting the 50/50 Fortune Raffle, with all proceeds benefiting the Ridge Meadows Hospital. 

Repair Monitor ranked the Maple Ridge Repair Cafe program as one of the top ten most productive in the entire country.

 

MISSION 

Mission Memorial Hospital has just installed a cutting-edge computed tomography (CT) scanner. Cost estimates for the scanner and related renovations come to $9.85 million. The Ministry of Health, Fraser Health and the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation, in collaboration with Mission All Together for Healthcare, have contributed nearly $7.28 million, $1.44 million, and $1.13 million, respectively.
