Raj Veauli

Raj Veauli has been nominated as the candidate for the Conservative Party of BC in Delta North for the upcoming provincial election on Oct. 19.

Chef Bruno Marti, the retired owner of La Belle Auberge restaurant, and Dr. Jack Taunton, one of the creators of the Vancouver Sun Run and the Vancouver Marathon, have been awarded Members of the Order of Canada.

The Delta council granted final approval to significant modifications to the city’s Official Community Plan (OCP), following the approval of Delta’s updated Regional Context Statement by Metro Vancouver’s board and the Agricultural Land Commission.

As part of the Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation‘s ‘Coming Home’ capital campaign for the new Beedie Long-Term Care Centre, the largest fundraising campaign in the Foundation’s 35-year history, the inaugural ‘Supper at Sunset’ fundraising dinner will be held on the Tsawwassen First Nation boardwalk on August 22.

The Reach Society Teens Programme receives a $32,000 donation from Global Container Terminals.

WHITE ROCK

White Rock City Council has voted to improve accessibility on the famous and well-loved pier, making one of the city’s most notable landmarks able to be enjoyed by all. The Pier Accessibility Mat, which will stretch along the pier and aims to create an even layer on the wood planks, is able to be installed thanks to a generous grant from SPARC BC and donations from the Self Advocates of Semiahmoo and Soroptimists International of White Rock.

The Picnic on the Pier event, a fundraiser for the Peace Arch Hospital Foundation, will be held in White Rock on August 8.

From August 2nd to the 4th, Waste Connections of Canada will host the 73rd White Rock Sea Festival & Semiahmoo Days.

The South Surrey & White Rock Chamber of Commerce is hosting a New Member Breakfast on July 17 at Aspira Peninsula, 2088, 152 St., Surrey.
