Vivacity Technologies announces the City of Kamloops’ addition to the VivaCitadel Design Partners Program. Through cutting-edge smart city data management systems, the program seeks to break down data silos and investigate alternate revenue and cost recovery potential for municipalities.

Westsyde farmers received ownership of the Noble Creek irrigation system, which had previously been administered by the City of Kamloops.

Kamloops City Council recently unveiled a plan to finance a performing arts centre and a large sports facility through a $275 million loan. The council unanimously approved the plan on June 25th and is now seeking public approval.

The Lower Nicola Indian Band has received $190,000 from the federal government through the Natural Infrastructure Fund to support the revitalization of its natural green spaces and the completion of bank stabilization.

Todd Mastel, IH executive director of business operations, provided an update on the progress of the Kamloops cancer centre at Royal Inland Hospital. According to Mastel, the target completion date for the centre is set for December 2028. Additionally, renovations to RIH, which are part of the project, are expected to be finished by the summer of 2029.

NAI Commercial, a Vancouver-based firm, has listed industrial land on the Tk’emlups te Secwepemc reserve for $1 million per acre in a new subdivision.

The Kamloops Film Society needs $10,000 to bring the Metropolitan Opera to the Paramount Theatre. KFS executive director Colette Abbott stated the KFS is working with the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra, Western Canada Theatre and TNRD Library to promote the campaign.

Eleven active transportation projects on ministry-owned rights of way in British Columbia, including three in Kamloops and one in Merritt, will get $85 million, according to the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.

Tickets to a Taylor Swift concert are being offered by the Penticton Hospital Auxiliary as a fundraising raffle item to benefit the Penticton Regional Hospital’s Oncology Clinic. The sale of tickets will run through September 16, 2024.

KidSport Penticton has benefited from $40,000 in donations from the yearly KidSport and Friends Golf Tournament at Penticton Golf and Country.

SUMMERLAND

Effective July 2, 2024, the WorkBC Summerland location is moving to its new located at the Summerland Foodbank and Resource Centre, 13204 Henry Ave.

The South Okanagan Health Care Auxiliary and the Summerland Health Care Auxiliary each made two sizable donations to the SOS Medical Foundation. The $200,000 pledge for a chemotherapy chamber in the new cancer clinic was made possible by a $50,000 donation from the South Okanagan Health Care Auxiliary. The Summerland Health Care Auxiliary pledged $1,000,000 toward the new oncology clinic, of which $100,000 was donated.

The Summerland Rotary Sunday Market has returned to Downtown Summerland and will continue every Sunday until October 13th.
