Dr. Daniel Vigo has been appointed by the Province as the Chief Scientific Advisor for Psychiatry, Toxic Drugs, and Concurrent Disorders in British Columbia.

The City of Kamloops, ASK Wellness Society, and BC Housing have partnered to build The Confluence, an 80 rental houses for low-income seniors and families at 346 Campbell Avenue.

This year, JoieFarm Winery is celebrating Father’s Day with a new event on June 16: a Father’s Day BBQ with Grapevine BBQ.

On Father’s Day, Nighthawk Vineyards in Okanagan Falls will host a BBQ and blues concert with the famed Poppa Dawg as the featured performer and the Okanagan Falls Skaha Lake Winery Association. The event is titled Father’s Day Blues & BBQ.

After being taken over by local businessman Johnny Aantjes in April, The Nest, which is situated at #301-1475 Fairview Road, is offering locally sourced food with a focus on breakfast and brunch.

The Peach City Beach Cruise car display in Penticton, will return this year to the Okanagan lakeshore on June 21, 22, and 23.

The SASCU Indoor Sports Complex‘s future will be decided in part by the citizens of Salmon Arm, who will be invited to an open house event on June 19th.

BGC Engineering has issued the final report on the post-wildfire landslide assessment and the CSRD is making the report available. The report is highly technical in nature and complex in terms of data. The upcoming meetings on June 13 and 17 are designed to explain the content of the report and allow residents to ask questions to better understand what the data means for them.

Robin Barycroft

Robin Barycroft was recognized as Realtor of the Year at the annual Association of Interior Realtors Awards. This accolade celebrates professionals who have achieved success while demonstrating care and generosity. Roberta Schaafsma has been given the Rookie Realtor award, and the Distinguished Service Award was won by Jayme McKillop.

The Science of Illusion Fundraiser, which takes place on June 15 at the Okanagan Science Centre in Vernon, features magician, illusionist, and award-winning mentalist (mind reader) Ryan Michael. Tourism Vernon is hosting the next Chamber Business after 5 on June 18th 5-7 PM at Cambium Cidery.

Preliminary work on the 43rd Street Vernon Creek Crossing project is now underway. For the project, approximately two dozen mature multi-stemmed trees will be removed. To compensate, 130 native trees and a variety of native shrubs will be planted in accordance with regulatory requirements. Seventy-seven of these compensation trees will be planted at the 43rd Street bridge. The Project is a key component of the City’s flood mitigation plan.

 

SUMMERLAND

Dirty Laundry Vineyards of Summerland was awarded the title of “Wine of the Year” at the 45th annual Okanagan Spring Wine Festival, which was held at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre. The wine was a 2022 Cellar Series Gamay Noir.

Summerland is considering a partnership with LocalMotive Organic Delivery and Community Futures Okanagan Similkameen (CFOS) to establish the Okanagan Food and Innovation Hub in the district.

The Summerland Chamber is having their AGM on June 19 at 4 pm in the Summerland Chamber Boardroom.
