VICTORIA – A talented team with highly specialized technical skills support production and growth at Carolynn Wilson Architect Ltd.

The team produces drafting, 3D renderings and fly-thru animations, building permit documentation, and site construction administration in many different types of projects, says Carolynn Wilson, who founded the firm in 2017.

“We have provided architectural services on several building projects for large scale developments with very complex sites, to include master planning, programming, site and building design, with 3D Revit BIM modelling, coordinating Engineering and specialized Consultants, Rezoning/Development Permit Submissions, Building Permit Submissions and construction administration through to building completion,” she notes.

Carolynn, Principal, Architect AIBC, M.Arch, B.Tech. and  LEED AP, brings 28 years of architectural experience with diverse project types, and her current projects range from Net Zero Missing Middle Rental Townhouses, a new Office Building, 90 – Unit Waterfront Commercial – Condominium Development, Heritage Renovations, Institutional Renovations, Market Townhouses and custom residential homes.

“We’re specializing in sustainable architecture, the projects meet various green rating programs to include Net Zero, Step Code 3,4 and 5, Built Green Gold, and CaGBC Zero Carbon Building,” Carolynn notes.

Carolynn Wilson Architect Ltd. is fully inclusive, and currently has an all-female, in-house staff.

“Our staff brings architectural experience and highly specialized drafting skills into each project, and I ensure that the staff experience new opportunities for growth into the profession as individuals and as a team,” Carolynn states. “In a fully collaborative environment, the team learns new technical skills and architectural knowledge from each other, while I also provide training to our staff in all phases of the project delivery as well as daily directives, input, guidance and supervision of the work.”

As a full-time architect and a mother, Carolynn has an understanding of the need for work-life balance.

“Architecture is a demanding profession, and I hire enough staff to ensure full-time hours only, and I support our staff in their own personal choices in health and wellness activities,” she explains. “Enhanced work performance occurs when we all have regular work schedules and free time for fitness, family, friends and life. Carolynn provides her hardworking, dedicated team with occasional lunches out at local restaurants. We enjoy breaks, sharing, and discussing new technologies, products and projects.”

As a reflection of the firm’s commitment to the quality of their work, during the past seven years the company has received recognition with awards, as well as locally and international publications, including ‘The Residences on Sooke Harbour’ multi-family residential Award of Excellence, in the 2022 Capital Region Commercial Building Awards, International Design Award runner-up with ‘Rethinking the Future’, features in Spruce Magazine, Western Living and three projects which were featured in the internationally published book ‘Architects of the Pacific Northwest, Innovative and Sustainable.
