VICTORIA – Peninsula Co-op has announced its latest acquisition on Vancouver Island – Brentwood Bay’s Metro Liquor. This is in keeping with the organizations vision to expand in the liquor retail sector.
This follows the addition of seven Liquor Express locations in September 2023. Peninsula Co-op has a diverse range of services in their effort to diversify to ensure long-term sustainability for their 120,000+ members.
“We’re not just growing; we’re growing with purpose,” Corey Gillon, CEO of Peninsua Co-op notes.
Gillon adds: “We’re not simply adding another liquor store to our portfolio; we’re strategically selecting and integrating stores that align with our long-term vision. A comprehensive roll-up strategy, which will see us rebrand and reposition our acquired brands under a new, distinct identity, will be unveiled in the coming months.”
Peninsula Co-op has long been known for their community involvement with donations and rebates for their members, which has been foundational in their operations and will continue with their expansion in the retail sector. Members can expect a rebate on purchases at the new location.
Peninsula Co-op’s business includes grocery, fuel and liquor. They have 17 fuel and convenience centers, 1 food store and 9 liquor stores, and employ ~500 employees. Last year nearly $8 million was returned to their member-owners, and half a million dollars is contributed to local community initiatives annually.
