PORT ALBERNI – After an extensive process, the City of Port Alberni announced the successful proponent of the Request for Proposal (RFP) Train Station lease has been awarded to local business and brewery, Twin City Brewing.
“Congratulations to Twin City Brewing for their successful proposal,” said Mike Fox, CAO for the City of Port Alberni. “It’s great to see a local business and the recipient of the 2023 B.C. Brewery of the Year award expand and move into this space that will bring vitality to the area while also celebrating the building’s historic and cultural value.”
The City-owned Port Alberni Train Station is a registered heritage building that was originally constructed in 1911. The City worked with the Alberni Valley Heritage Commission to restore and preserve its critical heritage values. Over the last two years the City has invested in seismic upgrades and a new roof to the building.
“We are thrilled for the opportunity to bring a new Twin City Brewing experience to Port Alberni’s waterfront area,” said Aaron Colyn, Brewmaster and Owner of Twin City Brewing Company. “With this new project, we envision a welcoming space for the community (both near and far) where meaningful service, joyful food, and exceptional B.C. craft beer intersect as a backdrop for meaningful discussions, joyful reunions, and exceptional gatherings.
“Our Margaret street brewery provides a casual neighbourhood taproom experience, whereas the new space will be a more dining-focused counterpart. We ask for patience as we take the time to bring this new space to life. We can’t wait to show more of what we have planned.”
