ATLAS steak + fish’s Langley location made the Top 100 List
SURREY – A total of 11 restaurants in B.C. have been named to the list of Canada’s Top 100 Romantic Restaurants compiled by Open Table.
Just in time for Valentine’s Day on February 14.
Matt Davis, country director for OpenTable Canada, says that over 1.1 million diner views on their website platform from Dec. 1, 2022 to Nov. 30, 2023 were referenced to compile the Top 100 list.
The B.C. list includes ATLAS steak + fish at the Cascades Casino at 20393 Fraser Highway in Langley, Old Surrey Restaurant at 13483 72nd Avenue in Surrey, Vista 18 Restaurant + Lounge of Victoria, BLOCK ONE Restaurant at 50th Parallel Winery in Lake Country, PeakFine at Sparkling Hill Resort in Vernon, and two in Kelowna: Old Vines Restaurant at Quails’ Gate Winery and Home Block at Cedar Creek Estates.
ATLAS also has a restaurant in Burnaby.
Old Surrey Restaurant, founded in 1974 by Spain native Valentine Aguirre, is celebrating its 50th anniversary in operation this year. The building was constructed in 1918, and it was the residence of Lou Jack until it was converted into the restaurant.
The French fine dining establishment serves fresh, inspired dishes with local ingredients, including veal and lamb from the family’s farm in Chilliwack.

Reviews are glowing. States one customer: “My wife took me out for our anniversary and my birthday dinner celebration. Old Surrey did not disappoint. Great food, fantastic service and really nice ambiance. We started off with fresh oysters, then my wife got the Fish of the Day, while I got the seafood platter. Really fresh and tasty, portions were great. The night was capped off with a complementary birthday cake slice together with a birthday song from server Nick and partner.”
Old Surrey Restaurant also made the 100 Most Romantic List in 2022, while this is the first year that ATLAS has made the list.
ATLAS has locations in Burnaby in the Delta Hotels Burnaby Conference Centre, at Cascades Casino Kamloops and at West Edmonton Mall in Alberta.
The ATLAS steak + fish website states: “Dining at ATLAS is a full experience for your senses – from the sleek and luxurious décor set in a contemporary yet approachable space; to the selection of the finest ingredients prepared in the open concept kitchen; and finally the beautiful piano where a pianist serenades guests throughout their evening.”
The restaurants call their servers “Culinary Guides”, who are renowned for telling the story of how the chefs and culinary development team create the food on the menu.
