NANAIMO – Executive Director Jolynn Green has announced that Community Futures Central Island has moved from downtown Nanaimo to 106-205 Jensen Avenue East in Parksville.
Susan Herman has been promoted to Vice President, Finance at the Peninsula Co-op.
Long-time Nanaimo hockey promoter Myles Parsons has announced he is starting a new senior men’s hockey team, the Nanaimo Steelmen, and he has plans to have the club compete next year in the AA Coy Cup championships, emblematic of senior men’s hockey supremacy in the province.
Congratulations to the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation for raising $243,157 in its single day Giving Tuesday Campaign in November. Through corporate and community support, the Foundation was able to more than double its goal of $100,000. Corporate donations included large gifts from the Port of Nanaimo, Re/MAX of Nanaimo realtor Shannon Gorgichuk, the Nanaimo Theatre Group, Nanaimo Airport Commission, Royal Canadian Legion Seaview Centennial Branch 257 and a $50,000 gift from the Nanaimo Community Foundation. The funds will go towards critical care beds for the hospital’s High Acuity Unit.

Their latest outlet opened in Courtenay recently at 1130 Cliffe Avenue, adding to their other locations in Nanaimo, at North Nanaimo Town Centre, Port Alberni, Parksville, and its first restaurant in Campbell River.
Beloved long-time city of Nanaimo employee Bob Rowledge, the driving force behind brick sales that resulted in the building of the Lions Great Bridge spanning the Millstone River, passed away recently.
After almost two years of delays, Caged Athletics Inc. has officially re-opened its doors at 341 Irwin Street in south Nanaimo. Brady Rogers owns the business, which features batting cages and baseball/softball Hittrax leagues.
