NANAIMO – The City of Nanaimo is seeking public input on access options for a sometimes controversial planned development in the city’s northend. An Open House will take place at the city-owned Oliver Woods Community Centre on Thursday October 8 to collect input on the planned Linley Valley West development.
This new housing development is presently being developed in the Linley Valley area between Rutherford Road and the new Linley Valley Park. Due to recent changes to land use, parks and transportation a new multi-modal access plan is being developed for this growing neighborhood.
“We are looking forward to hearing from the public at our upcoming open house and we encourage all interested residents to attend and provide their ideas, suggestions or comments,” stated Dale Lindsay the city’s Director of Community Development.
Two access options are being considered; a new road linking Linley Valley Drive and Rutherford Road at Nelson Rd or utilizing existing neighborhood streets to link to Rutherford at Vanderneuk Road and Brookwood Drive.
An Open House on this project will be held at Oliver Woods Community Centre on Thursday October 8 from 4:30 to 7:00PM. City staff will be present to answer your questions and receive feedback on the proposed access options. Feedback from this event will be used to help identify a preferred access option.
