VANCOUVER – The BC Chamber of Commerce has announced the appointment of a new President and Chief Executive officer (CEO). The Chamber’s Board of Directors has announced that Jon Garson has been appointed to the position of both President and CEO of the British Columbia Chamber of Commerce. “Jon has dedicated over a decade of his career to the Chamber of Commerce movement, stated Brant Hasanen, Board Chair, BC Chamber of Commerce.
Hasanen said Garson had fulfilled many different roles at the BC Chamber. Initially he served as a Director with his mandate being Policy Development and Communication. Later he served as the Vice President, Policy Development and Government Relations. “Jon has been at the forefront of placing the BC Chamber of Commerce as the foremost business advocacy organization in the province,” he said.
After a lengthy search and filtering through over 70 candidates, the executive transition committee, with the approval of the Board of Directors, accepted the recommendation of Davies Park Executive Search firm.
“As a recognized leader in public policy, Jon will ensure that the BC Chamber of Commerce will strengthen its role as the voice of business in BC,” continues Hasanen.
“The Board of Directors was particularly impressed with Jon’s vision for growing membership in the chamber network to better serve businesses in communities across the province. We look forward to Jon’s work and vision of moving the BC Chamber forward and taking advantage of the unique opportunities in the current business environment in British Columbia.”
