Sidney-Based Home and Office Comfort Service Firm Continues to Expand
VICTORIA – Family-owned and operated Coastal Heat Pumps is now bringing their home and office comfort services to the Cowichan Valley.
It’s the latest stage of growth for the company that Joanne and Don Gulevich started in the Comox Valley in 2005 and moved to Sidney in 2012.
“We are heat pump experts, that’s what we do and our name explains it all,” says Ashley Gulevich, who is the Director of Administration. Ashley and Lindsey Petz, are sisters and daughters of the founders, who are still active in the firm. “The company values are based around integrity, trust, honesty, and doing what is right. That makes it easy to find the right colleagues and empower them to make the right decisions for our customers and homeowners.”
“We guarantee that when customers choose us, you will have our commitment for the life of the heat pump system,” she adds. “We take pride in our quality and workmanship, and have trained, qualified and certified refrigeration technicians in both service and installation. Our salesmen are also red seal refrigeration techs, which gives them the advantage of creating the best design, and knowing why it is the best design from a technical point of view as well. We service everything that we install, and offer locally stocked systems, meaning parts are always available.”
Coastal Heat Pumps keeps up to date with provincial and federal rebates, grants and financing packages that make heat pumps more attractive and affordable. For example, BC Hydro and Clean BC are offering rebates of up to $6,000, the federal government for up to $5,000, and federal financing for up to $40,000 is available on a 10-year interest free loan. Ashley notes that an oil to heat pump income qualified program – can cover between 60-90 per cent of installation up to a maximum funding of $9,500, and Coastal Heat Pumps also offers financing packages.
“We are in a unique time right now where the rebates have generated a huge amount of interest and momentum in people wanting a heat pump installed,” she states. “Heat Pumps provide an affordable heat in the winter as well as air conditioning in the summer. They run off electricity, and the newer technologies can support colder and hotter temperatures. When you tie in the energy efficiency of a heat pump that provide heating and cooling savings, and rebates available, it really reduces the cost of the investment.”
Coastal Heat Pumps has won numerous prestigious awards over the years and is currently working on three remote projects with First Nations communities.
“We’re very excited to now be serving the Cowichan Valley, and our service area is now from Sidney to Sooke, and up as far as Ladysmith,” Ashley states. “We look forward to expanding up Island and continuing to grow the company.”
