VICTORIA – Victoria International Airport (YYJ) has been chosen as the most efficient airport in the under 5 million passengers category in North America in the 2022 Global Airport Performance Benchmarking Report. This is the fourth time in the past ten years that YYJ has received this award with previous recognition in 2014, 2016 and 2020.
The Air Transport Research Society (ATRS) announced the winners for the 2022 ATRS Global Airport Efficiency Awards at the ATRS World Conference on August 25th in Antwerp, Belgium.
The ATRS is a worldwide research network headquartered in the University of British Columbia (UBC). The ATRS benchmark project is hosted at the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s David B. O’Maley College of Business, in Dayton Beach, Florida (USA). A highly regarded educational institution specializing in aviation business. The Airport Performance Benchmarking Report provides a comparison of airport performance worldwide and focuses on productivity and operating/management efficiency, unit cost competitiveness and comparison of airport charges.

The 2022 report includes 204 airports and 25 airport groups of various sizes and ownership forms in the Asia Pacific, Europe and North America. YYJ joins other top North American performers Orlando International Airport, Detroit Metropolitan Airport and Mineta San Jose International Airport.
