Kothari Group, an Ontario-based family owned real estate developer, has proposed to construct and operate a TownePlace Suites by Marriott hotel at the Victoria International Airport
SIDNEY – A new 129 room TownePlace Suites by Marriott hotel has been proposed to be built near Victoria International Airport.
The Kothari Group is proposing the property for the corner of Stirling Way and Beacon Avenue West.
“We are excited to work with Victoria Airport Authority and Marriott International to bring the first true extended stay hotel in this growing tourist and business market,” says Anupam Kothari, president of the family owned and operated Kothari Group. “This project is our group’s first of what we hope are many investments in British Columbia and the Greater Victoria region.”
The Kothari Group was established in Canada in 1996 with a focus in real estate related investments including mortgage financing, hotel development, and residential multi-story construction. Their hotel group works with international brands such as Marriott, Hilton and Hyatt to develop and manage hotels across Canada.
Following the airport’s development review process, if approved, construction could begin in early 2023 and is expected to take 18-24 months to complete the hotel. Plans call for a nationally recognized restaurant brand, 1,500 square feet of meeting space, a swimming pool, and a fitness center.

We look forward to working with the Kothari Group to hopefully see this exciting proposal come to fruition.”
Victoria Airport Authority is working with the W̱SÁNEĆ Leadership Council to obtain their feedback and to identify any possible project-related opportunities. The proposal is on federal land within the Town of Sidney’s boundaries. As part of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Town of Sidney and Victoria Airport Authority, Sidney’s staff and Council will have the opportunity to review and provide comment on the proposal.
