VICTORIACore Personal Fitness is all about “building a stronger, healthier you.”

This year marks the 10th anniversary of opening their Quadra Village location, where they offer a private environment for personal training, kinesiology and athletic therapy.

Ryan Wilson, who has been a personal trainer for 25 years, started Core Personal Fitness as a contractor in a private facility in 2003, and along with his wife Charlene, opened the Quadra location in 2012.

Core Personal Fitness offers a variety of programs and options for personal training, kinesiology and athletic therapy

“The environment of our studio really sets us apart from other gyms and fitness centres,” he states. “We have a very welcoming, private environment which is perfect for those who are intimidated by larger gyms or fitness centres. We never have more than two sessions booked at a time in our gym which creates a very personalized atmosphere for our clients.
“We pride ourselves on client rapport and have been working with some of the same clients for more than 10 years.”

The Wilsons have hired co-op students who have become long term employees.

“Operations Manager Lindsay Zanette started as a Camosun College co-op student in Kinesiology in 2017 and has continued to grow with us over the years,” Ryan states. “Moving into the role of operations manager in 2019, she has continually helped us successfully grow our business with her commitment to ongoing education in both the kinesiology world and the business world and is currently completing the business management program, virtually, through Simon Fraser University.”

Wilson is a CanFitPro Certified Personal Trainer, while Zanette is a BCAK Practicing Kinesiologist. The team includes CSEP Certified Personal Trainer Gillian Goldsworthy, BCAK Practicing Kinesiologist Emily Swann, BCAK Practicing Kinesiologist and Certified Athletic Therapist Riley Tesch and CSEP Certified Personal Trainer Devin Moydlova.

“We strongly encourage our employees with their ongoing education to be able to bring the best to our clients,” he states. “We invest in our employees for long term growth which results in low turnover rate.”

Core’s individualized approach to every client’s needs has been a key to its success.

“We work with all types of clients; those with general fitness goals, those who have specific injuries and those managing certain diseases,” he states.

Core has also completed workplace wellness programs for Victoria businesses that include lunch and learn seminars on various topics related to health and wellness.
