VICTORIA – With her background in home design, Jess Wageman knows what looks good. As founder of Jess Wageman Homes, she also knows what a good real estate deal looks like for clients.
Jess Wageman Homes, also known as J. Designs Studios, is a professional home design and styling company that is based out of Sooke. She is also a real estate advisor operating under Royal LePage Coast Capital Realty in Saanich and works throughout the south island.
“My goal is to make home design attainable and affordable for everyone,” she states. “We specialize in micro-renovations and creating a beautiful space by repurposing, thrifting or purchasing items unique to their style.”
Jess entered the real estate industry last fall “because I really wanted to level up my game in terms of what I can offer my clients. From home design to real estate services, helping my clients see potential in a home they might normally turn away from offers my clients an alternative option to get into the market.
“Not only can we discuss design, but also how to stage and de-clutter homes before listing them. I love being able to offer my clients a one-stop-shop service.”
Jess has found the real estate industry welcoming, and describes herself as a “mom-preneur”, and as such has found the delicate balance between business and home life. Both industries have been very supportive.
“It’s so easy to feel guilty as your business takes you away from family,” she observes. “But I set boundaries with my clients, talk with my mentors and business coaches to help overcome my own insecurities, and know that being my authentic self is always a win.”
She adds: “The only barrier or obstacle from my experience is honing in on that balance of business and family. As a mom of two little girls and a fly-in, fly-out wife, scheduling around the pushes and pulls of solo parenting and running your own businesses can be a challenge. It really does take a village.”
Her ability to multi-task has been a boon to her business, and for her clients.
“As a woman, we can multi-task like you wouldn’t believe,” she explains. “I’m very good at communicating with you to create spaces unique to your style and understanding what you, my clients, are genuinely looking for in a HOME.”
