VICTORIA – Mark your calendar for Saturday night, as the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce brings the fun and excitement of the 2020 Business Awards to CHEK TV!
- WHAT: Greater Victoria Business Awards
- WHERE: CHEK TV (Broadcast, Facebook, YouTube)
- WHEN: Saturday, Sept. 19 at 6 p.m.
The Chamber’s annual awards gala is typically held each year in the spring. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the evening has been rescheduled and expanded into a special one-hour broadcast in partnership with CHEK.
“These challenging times also create opportunities for innovation like this. Viewers are in for a treat as we’ve put together an entertaining and inspirational celebration of the hard work and determination of businesses across Greater Victoria,” Chamber CEO Bruce Williams said. “These awards are a snapshot of success before the pandemic, when our economy was booming. As the economy bounces forward into our future successes, these award finalists and winners are a beacon as we rebuild.”
The Business Awards shine a light on inspiring entrepreneurs, enterprising organizations and active community leaders. There are 14 categories, including Business of the Year, Outstanding Customer Service, Innovation and New Business. Finalists were announced earlier this year after being chosen by an independent panel of prominent community leaders.
As we previously announced, Rahim Khudabux, co-owner and general manager of Max Furniture, was named Chamber Member of the Year. This award recognizes an individual who has served as a volunteer at The Chamber, has taken an active role with the board or committees, fosters relationships with the community and advocates on behalf of business.
Bill McCreadie earned this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award, which is chosen by the Board of Governors. McCreadie is a former chair of The Chamber’s Board of Directors and partner with the accounting firm McCreadie & Tait. The Lifetime Achievement Award honours an individual for his or her outstanding leadership and accomplishments over the decades.
With 1,400 members, The Chamber’s mission is to serve Greater Victoria by working together to build good business and great community through advocacy, networking events, professional development and other unique activities. Find out more at VictoriaChamber.ca.
